Within the game, the user is able to choose between a lineup of 30 kids within the neighborhood or "Pro players as kids," with well-known athletes depicted as children. The game offers modes such as Single Game, Season Game, Batting Practice, and Spectator, with a league structure mirroring major league baseball, culminating in the "Backyard Baseball World Series."
